Celebrity to Speak at the Shrewsbury Public Library

Shrewsbury’s own Catherine Brunell will be dropping by the Shrewsbury Public Library for a special one evening event that you don’t want to miss!  Most recently seen singing alongside Carrie Underwood in the NBC live musical production of The Sound of Music, Catherine Brunell’s body of work extends far beyond the small screen.  She will talk about her work on stage (full bio below) as well as her road from Shrewsbury to Broadway.  She will take questions and three lucky participants will win a DVD copy of The Sound of Music NBC production to enjoy just a small part of Catherine Brunell’s talent.  Don’t miss this great event! 

The event is open to all interested, but geared more towards teenagers and adults.

Full Bio:

Shrewsbury native, Catherine Brunell, has performed the title roles in Broadway’s Mary Poppins and Thoroughly Modern Millie. She played the role of Eponine in the Broadway production of Les Miserables at the Imperial Theatre. Other Broadway credits include: Big River (revival with Deaf West Theater), A Tale of Two Cities, and ELF. Her professional career began while attending college at Northwestern University. Catherine was plucked from an open call audition and cast in the national touring production of Les Miserables where she covered both roles of Eponine and Cosette. Big River (Ford’s Theatre), Anything Goes (Williamstown Theatre Festival), A Wonderful Life (Paper Mill Playhouse), A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters (Skyline Theatre Co.), Paramour (Old Globe Theater), Call Me Madam (Goodspeed), Little Women (Shaeffer Theater at Duke U.), Guys and Dolls (St. Louis MUNY), Roman Holiday (MUNY), Sleeping Beauty (Barter Theater). Catherine was twice nominated for a Kevin Kline Award for Best Actress for her portrayals of Laurey in Oklahoma and Eliza in My Fair Lady at the St. Louis MUNY. Catherine was seen playing a nun and the role of Frau Zeller in December’s live NBC broadcast of The Sound of Music (starring Carrie Underwood). She is a National Anthem Soloist for the Boston Red Sox, most notably being chosen to sing the Anthem at the 2003 ALCS game at Fenway Park. Catherine is a finisher in two New York City Marathons. Proudest accomplishment: mother of three.
