If you've been out to a bar in the Worcester area in the past 20 years, chances are you've seen Probable Cause once or twice. Some fans—in fact many—have been following this cover band for years. Not only is it remarkable that the band has been kicking for 22 years, but with the same members. The Stones couldn't do it. Van Halen couldn't do it. The Police couldn't do it. The list goes on. Probable Cause could, and does.
Northborough Patch talked with guitarist Chris Coghlin about the band, and the big show coming up this weekend.
NP: How the heck does Probable Cause stay together, with the same members, for this long, without arguing? The Police couldn't do it. Fleetwood Mac couldn't do it. Numerous bands can't do it. How can Probable Cause?
CC: We are in our twenty-second year! We are probably able to stay together so long because we actually like being with each other. Believe it or not, we really don’t get to see each other that much anymore … mostly practices and shows. When we come together for a practice or a show it’s all about a good time…and we know how to have one.
NP: Name the five newest songs you've added to the repertoire:
CC: "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake, "Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crue, "Fire to Rain" by Adele, "Drive By" by Train and "We Found Love" by Rhianna
NP: What song you're tired of playing?
CC: None! If people are enjoying them live so are we……that’s what we do. Although, we are limiting "Sweet Caroline" to the Red Sox season only these days.
NP: Who's Irish in the band?
CC: All of us on St. Patty’s Day! However, in real life only two of us: me, and a little bit of Frank.
Probable Cause plays JJ's on Saturday night.
