b.good Brings Local Ingredients Home to the Family

The restaurant opened at White City Shopping Center in March and the owner says business immediately took off.

There are a lot of places to get a burger and fries in Shrewsbury, but b.good Shrewsbury owner John Freeley says there is something that sets the new fast food joint at White City Shopping Center apart.

"We use locally sourced ingredients in all of our food," Freeley said. "It's how we eat when we're not at work and now we can share that with the community here in Shrewsbury."

But that's not all, Freeley says because of the nearby Planet Fitness healthy eaters flock to the restaurant before and after their workouts.

"The other restaurants in the area didn't worry me when I was looking at this location, the area is big enough and we are different enough that we will stand apart because the quality of our food and the family atmosphere," Freeley said.

Family isn't just a saying either, as part of the restaurant's loyalty program diners join the family and get perks when they have birthdays and at other times throughout the year. More than 40,000 people have joined the family of 10 restaurants since they began opening a decade ago in Boston.

The menu is simple, half a dozen burgers and sandwiches that can all be made with beef, turkey, veggie patties or chicken. There are also a variety of fries, salads and milkshakes.

But the location is what matters, and the location has been improving since the shopping center was taken over by new owners several years ago.

"I have to give credit to the landlord for all the work they've done to get the plaza more curb appeal and make it a destination," Freeley said.
