Country Kicking at the Senior Center; and 'Tom Sawyer' in the Next Room

Take a beginners line dance class.

Submitted by the Shrewsbury Public Library

Mary Dragon from the Country Kickers Dance Team in Boylston, teaches a beginners country line dance class at the Shrewsbury Senior Center on Saturday, April 20, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Dragon introduces participants to line dancing using step by step instructions. Line dancing is a fun and energizing form of exercise. No special clothes or partner needed.

This is a free event for ages 12 and up, with no registration required. There is  also an animated Tom Sawyer movie presented in a separate room for the young ‘uns so their parents can learn to kick up their heels.

This event is part of the Shrewsbury Library’s 2013 Big Read, which focuses on Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in collaboration with Arts Midwest. This is the third year that the Shrewsbury Public Library has won this national grant and with the additional support from the Friends of the Shrewsbury Library we have been able to present many events as part of the Big Read.
