Resident to Speak at Pro Gun Control Rally

Saturday's event is in front of the State House.

A pro gun control rally in front of the State House on Saturday will include Westborough resident Ilyse Levine-Kanji among the speakers.

The Greater Boston Area chapter of One Million Moms for Gun Control's event is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

State Rep. David Linsky (D-Natick) will discuss gun control legislation he has filed, the chapter said in a press release.

Levine-Kanji told Westborough Patch that "I lost three people I loved very much to gun violence in two separate shootings."

"I've been asked to speak at the rally to share my personal experience," she said.

Levine-Kanji also has blogged about her experience.

The national One Million Moms will co-sponsor the March on Washington for Gun Control in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, the press release notes.

"The goal of the march is to demand immediate action on common sense gun control legislation. Thousands of Americans are expected to fill the Beltway in support of Congressional gun control legislation," the press release says.

The organization says it wants elected officials to "ban assault weapons and ammunition magazines of more than 10 rounds"; "require background checks for all gun purchasers"; "report the sale of large quantities of ammunition to the ATF"; and "limit the scope of concealed weapons laws at the state level."

My offensive comment deleted....and yet shown to be true. I suppose to the unthinking that words hurt more than fists do? And this "lady" wants to take my rights away? How about you learn to keep your fists to yourself and your hands off my rights.
