Newlyweds Eileen and William Chiarchiaro

Heart-warming feature about a couple finding love again.

Southgate was actually the catalyst that brought Eileen and William Chiarchiaro together. He had been living there on his own for the past four years while Eileen worked there as a receptionist part time. Having retired from her career in real estate, she enjoyed working the front desk and getting to know all of the residents.

About two years ago, there was one resident in particular that stood out from the rest. William would come down to the front desk when Eileen was working and hang around getting to know her. He was smitten from the moment he first laid eyes on her. She was a little more cautious, but he was persistent.

They would go out for meals together and realized that they truly enjoyed one another’s company. The more time they would spend together, the more they realized how much in common they had. In spite of their 25-year age difference (she is 65 and he is 91), they did fall madly in love.

“When my family came here to help me celebrate my birthday last year, we were all on our way out the door when I pointed out Eileen to them and told them that they were looking at the woman that I was going to marry,” William said.

At first, William wanted Eileen to simply move in with him, but after living on her own for the past 26 years, she told him bluntly, “If you want me to live with you, you will need to put a ring on my finger.”
