Kevin McKenna to Run for Re-election to Library Board of Trustees

I have been a resident of Shrewsbury since 1984 and a trustee of the Shrewsbury Public Library for over 20 years.  This year, I’m running for re-election and would like to ask for your vote.  This is a particularly exciting time for the library as we finally begin the process of renovating and expanding the existing structure.  We all agree that the library is far more than a physical structure.  It is the intellectual heart of our community.

A visit to the library on any day will underscore how vital a service this institution is to Shrewsbury.  From children excitedly engaged in exploring the wonders of reading, to teens participating in SPLAT activities, to students getting help researching material for research papers, to adults selecting a book to read or a DVD to watch, the library is daily a center of activity.  In my time as trustee, I have served as chair of the search committee that selected Ellen Dolan as our director.  I am a member of the Personnel Committee.  I want to continue to offer my service to the library as we enter this next phase of its development.

I am currently Senior Associate Dean at Clark University.  I hold a Doctor of Education degree from Columbia University and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Manhattan College.  Thank you for considering my candidacy for re-election to the library Board of Trustees.
