Frank Stille Running for Reelection to Library Board of Trustees

As a candidate for re-election to one of three seats on the Shrewsbury Public Library Board of Library Trustees, I’m writing to ask for your support in the upcoming Town election.

I moved to Shrewsbury in 2005 and quickly realized that I wanted to become involved and contribute to my adopted hometown. I have served on the Board of Library Trustees for three years, as well as being an active library volunteer and member of the Library Steering Committee. I have also served as a Town Meeting Member and as a part time Assessor on the Shrewsbury Board of Assessors.

During my time on the Board of Trustees, I have been a committed volunteer in the campaign to gain voter approval of the library building project. I have also been active in the library’s various community activities and projects, such as The Big Read community reading project, the Veteran’s Day receptions, and other special projects that keep our library connected to and effectively serving the varied needs of our residents. While the primary role of the Board Trustees is policy and planning based, I believe an active member can help the library better serve its broad educational and social community function. If elected, I will continue to be an active contributor to library projects.

My background is in engineering. I was Engineering Manager of Teledyne Engineering Services and hold a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University, and am a retired Licensed Professional Structural Engineer in the State of Massachusetts. I believe my management and technical skills have served the board well, and will be an important asset as we transition from the present library facility to the new building.

Libraries are places of great opportunity; offering lifelong education to all, from early childhood through adulthood. I am proud to have served on this board, which has worked in a cooperative and forward-thinking manner to assure such opportunities for our citizens. I believe that we accomplish a great deal when we work together, and know that my continued participation on the board will help sustain this successful team.

I ask for your vote on May 6, so that I can continue to serve this great community and join fellow board members in serving your needs.

Respectfully,

Frank B. Stille,
