Surreal Summer as an Author

The last 30 days have been very eventful!   So many exciting things have transpired in relation to my PMS Private Investigator Series that it's almost been a surreal experience!

First, A Family Affair was featured in a raffle giveaway on behalf of the Sexy Single Mommy Blog then it was shared at the Long Island Networking event and finally it was contributed as part of a book reading in Brooklyn!

It has also been picked up, along with Doctor's Orders, by libraries all over the country.  But probably the craziest surprise was that it was approved to be included in the swag bags for the Emmy Awards this fall!  Can you believe it?  It definitely took me more than a few minutes to wrap my head around that fantastic news.

Heather and Jillian from Expose Yourself PR submitted a paperback and received an email that the book would have to be read by a superior before a decision could be made.  We were given an approximate timeline of a week, and let me confide in you that that was by far one of the longest weeks I've had to ride out in a super long time; especially because the deadline bled over by a few days.  But true to my Virgo nature, I had already rationalized that if it was meant to be then it will and kept an even composure over the waiting game.  There was nothing more that I could do to influence the outcome, so I'd decided that there was no point in losing my mind over all of it. Of course that didn't mean I wasn't nervous!   The only other person I confided in was my husband because I had to squeak out the possibility of such a great opportunity to someone or I would bust!  He's always very supportive and does a great job of keeping my attention occupied during situations which are out of my control.

Then last Thursday I got the great news, it was a go!  While being elated, what struck me the strongest was the fact that this is a group of individuals who are very selective with what they include for these stars; they aren't just looking for donations to fill the space in the baskets, and to know that A Family Affair was read and accepted as an addition to the elite group of goodies which will be shared during this event, really blew my mind.
While being fortunate enough to receive such wonderful feedback on my stories from readers who have contributed those kind words, this accomplishment holds a different stigma and for a small town girl like myself who is doing all she can to bring this Series to life.  This incredible news really provided me with a great sense of pride.  The next steps include the books will be shipped off this week and I'll absolutely be marking that day on my calendar!  Luckily it is such an easy read that I'm hoping  that will hold a great appeal to the recipients, who like most of us, have limited time to spend  sitting still long enough to digest a book.

I have since pulled my head back into reality because there is still so much to work towards.  But having this this bite empowers me to push ahead further.  It's kind of like trying to lose weight or save a little money, once you experience even a small win, motivation flourishes and the ultimate goal becomes visible, even almost reachable, and you strive to tackle that objective.

So if you watch the Emmy's, feel free to keep your fingers crossed along with me, in hopes that this could be a stepping stone to a new phase in my life as an Author.  Here's to big dreams!
