Join the Shrewsbury Public Library on Wednesday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m. with Ryan Bernsten, who set out to travel all 50 states to find solutions to the present day divide in U.S. politics. His findings? Our diversity is our nation's greatest strength, if only we choose to embrace it. Through humorous encounters, vivid storytelling, and insightful commentary, Bernsten highlights the common thread of humanity in the Americans he meets across the country. 
Ryan Bernsten is a graduate of Northwestern and the University of Oxford's creative writing graduate program, where he received a distinction for his narrative nonfiction account of his American travels, 50 States of Mind: A Journey to Rediscover American Democracy.

Noor's written works explore themes of justice, leadership, and the complexities of race in society, captivating readers with her unyielding honesty. Noor proudly presents her first book of poetry, One Teaspoon of Home: Desi Food Poetry, a tender tribute to the land (Lahore, Pakistan) that holds her heart. In this book, food is introduced to us as characters with personality, their quirks, flaws, punches, temperament(taaseer), attitude - overwhelming and underwhelming. Come and listen to Noor read her poems and talk about the inspiration behind each one of them. Also, sample some delicacies from South Asian cuisine.

Join us for a day of decluttering, community, and environmental action. We're accepting a wide range of electronics, including TVs, computers, and more. Help reduce e-waste and learn about sustainable practices.
YMCA- Central Community Branch is hosting an Electronics Recycling Event as well as FREE DOCUMENT SHREDDING from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday May 11. The collection event will be held in the YMCA Branch parking lot at 766 Main Street in Worcester.&nbsp;
All electronics, appliances, items with a plug and/or batteries, as well as bicycles in any condition will be accepted and recycled for a small cost as follows:
Cost to You: • $5 each for Computers, Laptops, Video Game Consoles, DVD Players, VCR’s, Small Printers, Radios, Alarm Clocks, Speakers, Table Lamps, Fans, Hair Dryers, Curling Irons, Projectors, Power Tools, Drills, Cameras, Clocks, Trophies, Frying Pans and Cookware, Holiday Lights, Other Small Electronics.

The event will be rain or shine. Computer hard drives will be destroyed during the recycling process, but can be removed on-site at the event for an additional charge. Cash payment is preferred, but checks will be an acceptable form of payments over $30.

Join the Shrewsbury Public Library on Thursday, May 16th at 7:00 p.m. with Justice Dennis J. Curran (ret.) for a discussion about Elizabeth Freeman, who is a little-known national hero, and was among the first slaves in Massachusetts to sue for and win her freedom.
The jury ruled in her favor and she became the first African-American woman set free under the Massachusetts constitution. Her case helped end slavery in Massachusetts.
Justice Dennis J. Curran (ret.) served as a Massachusetts trial judge for 15 years. He is a graduate of Boston Latin School, the University of Pennsylvania (B.A. and M.A.) and the University of Virginia School of Law.

Join the Shrewsbury Public Library on Saturday, May 18th at 2:00 p.m. with Georgia Johnson. Indulge in a calming yoga class to please all the senses. With soft candlelight and soothing music, this beginner-friendly yoga flow welcomes all levels. After a soothing savasana, treat yourself to an assortment of chocolate goodies and hot herbal tea. Regional entertainer Dan Kirouac will bring a one-hour concert to the Shrewsbury Senior Center on Monday, May 20th 10:00 AM. This will feature radio-friendly pop, rock, and easy-listening songs of the 1960s and 1970s.
The Center is located at 95 Maple Ave. The performance is open to members of the Shrewsbury senior community and others as space and interest allow. Inquiries at (508) 841-8640.
