About this column:

This column highlights the empty storefronts around Shrewsbury.
Take out that magic wand and let us know what you would put in this location on Route 20. It's located adjacent to the Dunkin' Donuts and in front of an apartment complex. White City Pizza closed its doors in February, right before the renovation began at White City. Everyone loves a good slice of pizza, but if you had a magic wand, what would you put there to replace it? Would you like it to be a new pizza place? A Starbuck's? What about a store that sells magic wands (I'm going to vote for that one, since my magic wand doesn't always work when I ask it to clean the house or make my kids listen)? Let us know in the comments and don't forget, you can always review local businesses in our directory. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date on the …

The existing parking will also stay the same. Construction and improvements have already started improvements to the facades of the buildings as well as aligning the exits to both plazas on North Quinsigamond Avenue and adding a traffic signal, according to Town Planner Kristen Wilson. A patio will be added to the Thai Place, a frozen yogurt place has acquired a license for the former Friendly's …
It's been a year and a half since the new Price Chopper location opened with much fanfare and celebration. Since then, though the old location at the corner of Route 9 and Maple Avenue has been dormant. It is one of the many storefronts that is vacant in town and we want to know what you would put there. Many local parents have been asking for a kid-friendly restaurant or gathering place, while others are asking for a bookstore like Borders. If I could take out my magic wand, what would you like to see in that plaza?
There is almost 16 acres on Route 9, just a stone's throw away from the new Northborough Crossing plaza with Wegmans, but this property remains empty. The family-owned Shrewsbury Nurseries closed its doors last year and no one has purchased the property. Throughout the last year, mulch has been sold on the property and a sign has been placed on the property advertising Shrewsbury Health and Racquet Club. And the adjacent property, Rainbow Play Systems sells swing sets outdoors, but even that looked empty. What would you want to see built here? How do you feel about all the small businesses …
