Each week the Worcester Animal Rescue League features a pet Shrewsbury residents can adopt.
Miranda is a lovable, terrier/American pit bull mix who has been with the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) since the beginning of October. She has a gentle soul and is hoping to share her life inside a home with adults only. As sweet as she is, Miranda tends to be jealous around other animals and is currently working with a trainer to remedy her confidence issues. If you are looking for a smart dog that knows commands and is good on a leash then Miranda is the dog for you. She will make a great walking partner. If you would like to learn more about our friendly Miranda, who is already …
Charity is a black and white cat that was found roaming the streets of Worcester before finding a safe spot inside the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL). She is a 1-year-old domestic, short-haired mix ready to find a home. Always seeking attention, Charity is the perfect medley of playful and loveable. Stop in to meet her today. WARL located at 139 Holden St. in Worcester, and is open from Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Visit WARL’s Facebook page, or call 508-853-0030.
Sarah is a 4-year-old purebred boxer who was found abandoned in a home after her owners moved away. During her brief stint with the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL), she has proven to be a sweet dog who would be comfortable snuggling with an owner or two of her own. Sarah is still wary around other animals so she would do best in a family without small children or other animals. If she sounds like a match, contact Dog Adoption Coordinator Liz Fay to learn more about her. Homeowners, please remember to bring your mortgage statement; renters bring a copy of your lease agreement. Everyone …
Alex is a loveable, terrier/American pit bull mix who has been with the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) since December 2010. She is hoping to share her life and find a home with adults only. She is a sweet, loveable girl who is tired of watching the younger dogs get picked first. If you would like to learn more about our friendly Alex, who is already spayed, come to the shelter today and speak with our Dog Adoption Coordinator Liz Fay. If you already have a dog, please bring him/her along with you to meet Alex. Please make sure to have your dog’s veterinary records with you. If you are …
Meet Tony. He is a 4-year-old, orange and white, domestic short-haired mix who is ready to move on and find a family to call his own. Tony has been with the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) since the end of July and has proven to be a sweet boy. Tony was returned to the shelter because the original adoptive family did not properly care for him, which led to fleas and severe teeth decay. Because his mouth was in so much pain, he wouldn’t eat so his teeth were pulled. Today, Tony has no teeth, which isn’t much of a hindrance, but his diet of wet food must be maintained. He is a happy-go-…
Speedy is a black and white, 5-year-old Jack Russell terrier who has been with the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) since June. He is intelligent, energetic and loves to chase his toys. Speedy was found running through the streets without tags and it is easy to see why—he likes to be the first one out of any door, and he certainly enjoys a good run. The ideal candidate for his adoption will be familiar with the breed and willing to care for such a high-energy dog. He is a good friend to the other dogs at the shelter. The more things, people and animals to play with, the happier Speedy is…
Meet Doobles. He is a black-and-white shorthaired mix looking for a forever home. Having been with the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) since the beginning of August, the staff has learned that although he is a bit timid around new people, once he warms up to you, he will be a great friend. Doobles seems to have a passive demeanor and would probably do OK in a home with other cats that have a similar, calm personality. Come in to meet him today. Everyone who adopts must bring in a driver’s license. Are you unable to rescue a pet? If you appreciate one-of-a-kind artwork and would like to …
Duncan is a 3-year-old pit bull terrier mix who has been with the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) since May. He is intelligent, energetic and will make either a great hiking or jogging companion. Duncan has impressed his caretakers with his ability to learn. He has mastered the commands of sit, paw and speak, and is currently working on drop it. Throughout his stay at the shelter, he has also proven to be a friend to other dogs. If you would like to learn more about Duncan, please meet with Dog Adoption Coordinator Liz Fay and if you have another dog at home, bring her/him along for a …
Jaquiel is a 4-year-old, black-and-white mix who is ready for her life’s next chapter. Having been with the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) since April, she hopes to find a home where she can be the only pet in the house. She is a lovable cat that wants to spoil her owners; however, Jaquiel would do best in an environment without small children. Stop in to meet her today. While at the shelter, purchase tickets Bark at the Park. Hosted in part by the WARL, this event is geared toward animal and baseball lovers alike. On Wednesday, Aug. 17, take the kids and the dogs to a Worcester …
Corina is a sweet, purebred American pit bull terrier who has been with the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) since January when she arrived as a stray. Corina is gentle, mild mannered and she loves her humans. To help her find a home soon, her adoption fee has been lowered to just $50. During her time at the shelter, Corina has displayed nothing but kindness toward other dogs and would do great in a home with most breeds. Interested takers who already own dogs should bring along these pets when traveling to meet the friendly Corina, who is already spayed. Stop by the shelter and speak …
Smokey Bear is a 2-year-old, gray, long-haired mix who is looking for his forever home. Having been with the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) since the end of March, he deserves the chance in a home where he can be the only pet in the house. Smokey has FIV, which is also known as feline AIDS. While this disease doesn’t seem to impede the longevity of a cat’s life, it does require the separation of affected cats from those who are healthy. FIV is spread only to other cats through mating or fighting; dogs and people are immune and not at risk to illness. Shy at first, once he gets to know …
Dazzle is a 2-year-old terrier/American pit bull mix who has been shopping for a family since 2010. After spending time with a foster family, she currently calls the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) home. Half of her life has been spent on her own behind shelter walls. It is time for her to find a companion to call her own. Her time at the shelter has provided her with confidence, but she tends to be shy when faced with new people and places. She needs a patient caretaker that will work with her to let down her guard. Dazzle is still young and energetic, and she would do best in a family…
Bandit is a 5-year-old terrier mix who arrived at the Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) as a stray back in March of this year. Tired of his kennel, Bandit is in search of his forever home. This high-energy pooch has black and gray hair of a medium length. Bandit loves to play fetch and with a little training, his retrieving possibilities are endless. Bandit would do best in a home without small children as he has slight nervous tendencies, which will also require a bit of extra care in the house-training business until he grows comfortable in his new home. He is ready to make a life-long …

Midori is a Domestic Short Hair black neutered male cat. A nice family found him on their doorstep and were able to keep him for a short time. When he was brought to Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL), the staff quickly learned how friendly he is with people and other felines. He is up-to-date with routine shots and is litter-box trained. When visiting Midori soon, take a look at the installation "Forever Home" which continues on view in the lobby gallery at WARL. “Forever Home,” is an exhibition of color and black & white photographs by Worcester-based artist Jessica Walsh. The ongoing …
Zoe is a very affectionate 9-year-old girl. She walks beautifully on a harness, and enjoys meeting adults and children alike. This gorgeous mature girl is a medium-sized, spayed female with black, white and brindle coloring. An American terrier/pit bull mix, Zoe is looking forward to being part of a home where she will receive daily walks and lots of love. Zoe deserves to spend her senior years relaxing in a quiet home. If you're looking for a dog to take to the dog park, Zoe is not the dog for you. She would rather go solo with you on a hiking trail or go for a nice walk. If you're looking …
