Former Shrewsbury Police Chief Robert K. McGinley died at age 77 on Thursday, May 30, reports the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. McGinley grew up in Shrewsbury, and graduated from Major Beal High School, later receiving a degree in Criminal Justice from Quinsigamond Junior College. He also served on the U.S. Coast Guard, and was first employed as a firefighter in the town of Shrewsbury. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Monday, June 3, from 3-7 p.m. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home. His funeral is Tuesday, June 4, with his funeral Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. …
Patrick J. Fischetti a 15-year-old boy from Shrewsbury and eighth grade student at the Learning Center for the Deaf in Framingham, died after being stricken at home on Tuesday, March 26. Fischetti is the son of Elizabeth (Rudden) Fischetti of Marlborough and Thomas Fischetti of Shrewsbury. Visiting hours are Monday, April 1, from 4-7 p.m. at Slattery Funeral Home in Marlborough. Joseph "Squeek" Milan, 56, of Shrewsbury and formerly Holliston, died unexpectedly in a car accident on Friday, Feb. 8. Squeek was a town meeting member of Shrewsbury and Framingham, and was a friend of Bill W. for 28 years; and was instrumental in helping to heal, guide and counsel many others. He enjoyed his motorcycle as well as his music and the New England Patriots. Squeek was also known as the Mayor of Holliston and was a member of the Holliston VFW and American Legion. He was also active with The Ashland Fish and Game, where he was a board member and the past president.
Marianne Louise (Marshall) McVoy, 62, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012. She was the wife of Richard S. McVoy. Born in Lafayette, IN, on Aug. 31, 1950, the only child of John T. Jr. and Frances E. (Sutherberry) Marshall, she grew up in many places (NJ, CA, HI, and CT) as a "Navy brat." She graduated first from Glastonbury (CT) High School and then from the University of Vermont in 1972 with a degree in medical technology. It was there that she met her husband, Richard S. McVoy. Matthew J. Murray, of Shrewsbury, a State Police lieutenant, died Friday, Sept. 14, after a more than seven-year struggle with multiple myeloma. He was 44. Matthew was born in Boston on Jan. 11, 1968, a son of Andrew E. Murray Sr. and Virginia M. (Barry) Murray. Raised and educated in Northborough, he graduated in 1986 from St. John's High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from UMass Dartmouth and a master's from Anna Maria College. He married Carla J. Fuhrmann on Feb. 22, 2000. Robert Frost, 89, of Worcester died Friday, July 20 in St. Vincent's Hospital after a period of declining health. Robert was born October 8, 1922 in Boston; his mother was the late Margaret Wyman. In 1951, Robert met and married what would be his wife and best friend for the next 40 years Lena (Pecorelli) Frost before she died in September of 1992. Together they settled in Worcester to raise their four children, Kenneth R. Ljupco Kuzmanovski, of Shrewsbury, died Wednesday, July 18 at UMASS Medical Center. He was 84. Ljupco, known to many as Louis, was born on February 25, 1928 in Bitola, Macedonia a son of the late Metodiga and Mirija (Nikolova) Kuzmanovski and emigrated to the United States 1967. Raised and educated in Macedonia he and his brothers owned and operated a textile manufacturing company. Upon settling in the United States he worked in the animal laboratory department at UMASS Memorial Medical Center and later at Astra Zeneca Corporation in Westborough. Juliana C. Neafsey, of Shrewsbury, died Monday, July 2. She was 26. Born on December 19, 1985 in Summit, New Jersey she is the daughter of Michael J. and Susan M. (Picard) Neafsey. She is the sister of Sean P. Neafsey and Colin M. Neafsey. She was a graduate of Shrewsbury High School class of 2004.
