Shawn Loiseau, a Shrewsbury High School graduate, signed with the Houston Texans over the weekend. Loiseau signed with the Houston Texanas as an undrafted free agent, according to Telegram.com. "Texans nation here we come!" Loiseau tweeted after he was signed. Loiseau is a two-time All-American and Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year, according to the Telegram. When Loiseau played at Shrewsbury High School, he lead the team to an undefeated season and went on to wint he Super Bowl championship in his senior year. She achieved the highest All-Around score among all Level 10 gymnasts at this year's state meet. Two Shrewsbury field hockey players traveled to Phoenix, AZ to compete in the largest field hockey tournament in the world. Teams from all over the country and world come together to play in Phoenix over Thanksgiving break at the National Field Hockey Festival. This year the U16 won gold. Alanna Maniatis was the leading scorer and Elizabeth Goss was one of the goalies. They finished undefeated and scored 11 goals and only allowed three goals in six games. The Shrewsbury Patriots fourth- and fifth-grade teams both won the Superbowl yesterday in Tyngsboro. The fourth-graders beat Hudson and ended their season. The fifth-graders beat Tyngsboro. The fifth-grade team enjoyed celebrating locally after the game, but their undefeated season is not over. They will compete in Weymouth this weekend against Wellesley for the state championship. Two cheerleading squads from the Shrewsbury American Youth Football and Cheer Organization (SAYFCO) are advancing to the regional competition later this month. The Division 10 squad led by Head Coach Gail Flynn and the Division 12 squad led by Head Coach Kerry Smith placed first at local competition on Oct. 22. Two teams from the Shrewsbury American Youth Football and Cheer Organization have made it to the playoffs this weekend with the hope of going to the Superbowl if they win. On Wednesday night, one of the fourth grade teams and one of the fifth grade football teams each beat the Nipmuc Warriors from Mendon, which advanced the two teams into the next round of the playoffs where both teams will face Charlton-Dudley on Sunday. Shrewsbury High School junior Jessica Bonollo made her debut start in the pitching circle recently on the road at Fitchburg and delivered a solid outing leading the softball team to an 8-0 win. “I felt good out there. The Shrewsbury girls’ basketball team enters the postseason with visions of greatness floating around in its head.
