Two-Time Drunk Driver Gets Probation
Other cases heard in Westborough District Court recently include leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury and larceny.

Robert Howland, 55, of 12 Courtland Dr., Westborough, was arrested by Shrewsbury police on a charge of violation of an abuse prevention order. Judge Vito Virzi ordered Howland held on $500 cash or $5,000 surety bail and set a pretrial hearing for Nov. 14.
Roland E. Barrows, 58, of 22 Barrows Rd., Worcester, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Shrewsbury police on charges of leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to keep right and failure to signal. Judge Vito Virzi released Barrows on personal recognizance and set a pretrial hearing for Dec. 20.
Allen W. LaForte, 56, of 53 Waterville St., N. Grafton, was found guilty by Judge Vito Virzi of operating under the influence, second offense. He was sentenced to 2 years of supervised probation and a 14-day treatment program, as well as two years loss of license. LaForte was found not responsible on charges of speeding and a marked lanes violation and a charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed. The charges were brought by the Grafton police department.
Awais K. Kazi, 28, of 297 Turnpike Rd., Apt. 123, Westborough, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Westborough police on a charge of operating with a suspended license. Judge Vito Virzi dismissed the charge upon payment of $300 in court costs.
Gordon Hickey, 62, of 62 Fort Hill Rd., Apt. 2, Groton, CT, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Shrewsbury police on charges of failure to stop or yield and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Judge VIto Virzi set a pretrial hearing for Dec. 19.
Craig Kelly, 28, of 32 Grosvenor St., Apt. 2, Providence, RI, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Westborough police on a charge of larceny over $250 by a single scheme. Judge Vito Virzi set a pretrial hearing for Dec. 19. Police allege Kelly stole items totaling more than $250 from the Stop & Shop on Lyman St.
Cathy C. Providence, 50, of 11 Hudson St., Apt. B, Northborough, was arrested by Northborough police on a charge of operating under the influence of liquor. Judge Vito Virzi continued the case without a finding for one year and ordered Providence to undergo one year of supervised probation as well as a 45-day loss of license.
