On Tuesday, the Board of Selectmen in Shrewsbury voted to join the state mandated regional veterans-assistance district, reported the Shrewsbury Daily Voice.

According to the town of Shrewsbury's website, it had originally joined the Department of Veterans Services, which is state mandated, along with Grafton and Northborough in 1999. The district was run by Richard Perron, who is resigning as of April 30, said the Shrewsbury Daily Voice, which also reported that selectmen "grudgingly" voted to join the new district along with Westborough.
