POLL: Finally, a Candle for the Man Cave
Yankee Candle has unveiled a new line of candles aimed at men, and the spaces they inhabit. Scents of sawdust and mown grass, and whatever "first down" is, are now available in jars. Which one is for the man in your life?
An idea whose time has come: "Man Candles," candles a man can uncork without feeling overwhelmed by feminine florals or spices.
Just in time for Father's Day, Yankee Candle has introduced a line of jarred scents aimed at men: "Riding Mower," "2 x 4," "Man Town," and "First Down."
The manly fragrances promise to bring the scent of fresh cut grass, sawdust, and leather to interior spaces.
As "2 x 4" is described: "the warm, unmistakable scent of freshly planed wood and sawdust evokes a sense of confidence and quality."
"First Down" promises to evoke the excitement of football: "This combination of orange, patchouli, vetiver and leather is as exciting as game day."
"Man Town" has a scent of spices woods and musk, and promises an "escape to the man cave with this masculine blend."
So, what fragrance fits your man? Choose among them, or suggest your own man-candle fragrance.

The fresh grass one intrigues me enough that I might let myself be seen going into a Yankee candle store for a change.

what a great idea! My boyfriend likes burning candles and we've stuck with beach scents instead of floral, so this will be a nice change..mmmmm sawdust

I have to say, I thought it was a joke when I first heard about it, but I love the marketing. The photo on the "Man Town" jar shows a hand with a remote in it... :)

The only other scents I can think of would first be cut hay. Brings back memories of my grandparent's farm.
And second... barbecue.. The combination of a good steak, charcoal and mesquite smoke.
And third.. the cheap whiskey that we drank in college and inevitably saturated a good portion of our rug and furniture.
There are plenty other "manly" scents I love, such as new asphalt and the smell of an old engine, but only in short bursts.

Candles for men? Give me a break. What is this world coming too? What's next, men's dresses? There won't be any man candles in this guys house.

Lets get something straight, no candles in a man town unless you are less than a man. (liberal).

Hmm.. how about these scents: Bacon.. WD-40.. More Bacon.. and Water scented. Yes I know water doesn't have a scent, that way it's not going to interfere with the smell of Bacon. Mmmmm. Bacon....
