Police: Women Stole Change, Attempted to Cash In
The Shrewsbury Police Department arrested two women who were spotted acting suspiciously in Shaws.
When workers at Shaws Supermarket noticed two women acting suspiciously near the coin return machine police officers were called in to speak to them.
"It was reported that two females were at the coin return machine acting suspiciously and appeared to be intoxicated," Shrewsbury Police Sergeant Chuck Pratt said.
After speaking with both females, the reporting officer discovered that the pair had warrants out for their arrests and that they were in possession of narcotics and stolen property.
"Officer Chartrand and the Shrewsbury Police Detective Bureau investigated further and determined the two females had broken into an apartment at the 'Shrewsbury Green Apartments' and stolen the victims coin collection and were trying to cash in the coins," Pratt said.
Kimberly Marchione, 30, of 1010 Massachusetts Ave., Boston and Maria Woods, 37, of 129 Union St., Framingham, were arrested. Marchione was charged with receiving stolen property and two warrant charges of possession of marijuana and criminal trespassing. Woods was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a class A substance, providing a false identification during an arrest. Woods also faced warrant charges including witness intimidation, conspiracy to violate drug laws and possession of marijuana.
The next morning both women were arraigned in Westborough District Court.
