Police Log: Shoplifting at Shaws, Motor Vehicle Vandalism

The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

 

Saturday, Feb. 2

1:10 a.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Street and gave the driver a verbal warning for a traffic offense. The vehicle was towed and the driver was taken to Worcester in a cab.

3:36 a.m.: A caller reported a dark SUV driving down Route 9 with their hazard lights on. An officer caught up to the vehicle and spoke to the driver who was reportedly having car trouble and was trying to get home.

11:05 a.m.: The manager of a store in Quinsigamond Plaza reported a customer creating a disturbance in the store and removing items from the dumpster. Officers responded and told the suspect not to return to the location.

2:23 p.m.: One vehicle was towed and at least one person was injured after a three-car crash on Boston Turnpike.

9:47 p.m.: A caller reported possible gunshots near Straw Hollow Lane. An officer from the Shrewsbury Police Department checked the area.

10:32 p.m.: An officer checked a suspicious vehicle at the Old Shrewsbury Village Shopping Center. License plates were confiscated from a vehicle that they did not belong to.

10:38 p.m.: A car crashed in to a stone wall on Althea Path. The vehicle was towed.

Sunday, Feb. 3

1:48 a.m.: A caller reported a loud party on Harrington Farms. An officer spoke with the people involved.

7:58 a.m.: A caller reported an elderly man walking down the middle of Route 9. An officer was unable to find the man.

1:18 p.m.: Officers informed a female on Balsam Circle that she was no longer allowed at the residence.

3:00 p.m.: An officer spoke to youths on Edgewater Avenue after a caller reported they were having a dispute.

5:50 p.m.: An officer took a report of vandalism to a motor vehicle on Boylston Street.

6:25 p.m.: A caller reported youths ringing doorbells and running through yards on Bridle Path. An officer spoke to the children’s mother.

7:26 p.m.: A caller from Shaws reported a shoplifter. Officers responded and arrested Walter Stewart, 51, of 33 Alvarado Ave., Apt. D1 Worcester. Stewart was charged with second offense shoplifting by asportation.
