Police Log: Recovered Violin, Trapped Beaver
The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.
Monday Sept. 24
7:07 a.m.: Medics, fire and police units responded to a car crash with injury on Main Street. One vehicle was towed and one person was transported to UMass Medical Center.
11:02 a.m.: A caller reported a large crow that fell from a tree on Clinton Street and appeared to be dying. Animal Control was notified and responded.
11:20 a.m.: A speed limit sign was stolen off a trailer on Holman Street.
12:56 p.m.: A resident went in to the Shrewsbury Police Department to report a stolen statue from Boylston Street.
1:12 p.m.: A person from North Quinsigamond reported a past assault.
1:58 p.m.: A resident of Sturbridge Circle requested to speak to an officer regarding suspicious activity.
2:22 p.m.: Animal Control and the Highway Department released a beaver stuck in the storm drain on Hapgood Way.
2:55 p.m.: A caller reported that their 18-month-old child was locked in the bedroom. An officer responded with the Shrewsbury Fire Department and was able to gain entry to the room.
3:43 p.m.: A caller reported a male on a moped was driving recklessly on Boston Turnpike. Officers responded and found the moped parked; they were unable to locate the driver.
4:03 p.m.: A caller requested an officer to responded because he was being threatened.
6:18 p.m.: A caller from Hawthorne Road requested to speak to an officer regarding harassing phone calls.
7:03 p.m.: A Phillips Avenue resident called from the hospital to report that her grandson had stolen her vehicle. The woman called back and reported that her granddaughter made up the story and no response was needed.
8:03 p.m.: An officer found a violin and a lunch bag on Oak Street.
