Police Log: Elderly Man Hitchhiking

The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

 

Wednesday, Nov. 14

9:51 a.m.: A resident went in to the Shrewsbury Police Department to report an elderly male with a cane hitchhiking on Route 140 near Paton Road. An officer responded but the male was gone.

11:44 a.m.: A resident of Grafton Street reported that a hit and run crash occurred involving her mailbox. An officer responded to observe the damage.

12:31 p.m.: An employee of the Shrewsbury Housing Authority reported an assault that occurred in the community room. The victim was transported to the hospital and Yaohua Long, 88, of 36 North Quinsigamond Ave., Apt. 604 was arrested. Long was charged with assault and battery.

3:57 p.m.: A caller reported that a vehicle was driven erratically through a school bus stop. An officer responded and spoke to everyone involved.

5:15 p.m.: A person went in to the station to report a road rage incident on Route 140 near Route 290. The person was able to obtain the other drivers license plate number and an officer made contact.

7:57 p.m.: An officer responded to a two-car crash near New England Satellite Systems on Hartford Turnpike. Both vehicles were towed and one driver was issued a citation.

Thursday, Nov. 15

1:28 a.m.: A caller from Power Avenue reported that a neighbor was playing loud music. An officer responded and had the music turned down.

2:23 a.m.: The same caller from the previous incident reported more loud music at the same house. An officer responded but the area was quiet.
