Police Log: Dumpster Fire, Unsafe Ice Fishing
The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.
Saturday, Jan. 12
3:00 a.m.: An officer stopped several vehicles on Boston Turnpike and issued multiple tickets and written warnings.
8:53 a.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle on Boston Turnpike. The vehicle was towed and the Shrewsbury Police Department has filed a criminal complaint against the driver.
9:32 a.m.: A citation was issued to a vehicle parked in front of a fire hydrant on Tennis Drive.
12:22 p.m.: A resident turned in ammo to the Shrewsbury Police Department.
1:39 p.m.: Officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Avalon Way.
2:10 p.m.: A caller from Crescent Street reported that he had been involved in an internet scam.
2:29 p.m.: Officers spoke to people who had been involved in a fight in the 7-Eleven parking lot.
2:40 p.m.: A caller reported concern for a male and his child on the ice on Mill Pond. An officer advised the people about the possibility that the ice was unsafe but they refused to leave.
4:05 p.m.: An officer investigated suspicious footprints on Gage Lane.
7:01 p.m.: A caller from Memorial Drive reported a hit and run that had occurred within the past week.
10:34 p.m.: The Shrewsbury Fire Department extinguished a dumpster fire behind Jimmy’s Tavern.
Sunday, Jan. 13
12:04 a.m.: Officers stopped a vehicle near Industrial Drive and arrested two of the three occupants. Jonel Reyes, 18, of 86 Second St., Apt. A, Framingham was charged with unlicensed operation and warrant charges for minor in possession of alcohol and open container in a motor vehicle. Anthony Buskey, 19, of 26 Proctor St., Apt. 2, Framingham was charged with disorderly conduct.
1:12 a.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle going the wrong way on Route 9. The driver was unfamiliar with the area.
8:36 a.m.: A caller reported four people ice fishing on Lake Quinsigamond near Main Street. An officer was unable to make contact with the fishermen.
10:33 a.m.: Bernard H. Hosking, 50, of 24 Artemas Ave., was arrested on warrant charges.
6:14 p.m.: A caller from Plainfield Avenue reported the sound of gunshots. An officer responded but the area was quiet.
8:37 a.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle on Boston Turnpike and arrested Kyle O’Halloran, 20, of 294 Crawford St., Northborough. O’Halloran was charged with operating with a suspended license and speeding.
