Shovels and snowblowers are out today, clearing away several inches of heavy, wet snow that blanketed the region overnight.
Shrewsbury had received 5.6 inches of snow as of 6:35 a.m., according to one report to the National Weather Service in Taunton.
Further north, Fitchburg had 7.5 inches as of 7:53 a.m., according to another report to the agency.
Rain and patchy fog are expected for much of today, the weather service said.
More snow is possible this weekend.
