Cops: Man Took iPad From FedEx

Other cases heard in Westborough District Court yesterday include motor vehicle violations and donation bin thefts.

 

Thursday, Oct. 18 

Amaro Varela, 36, of 17 Farrington St., Brockton, was summonsed to court on a complaint from the Westborogh police department on a charge of larceny over $250. In court documents, a police officer said while on patrol he witnessed Varela loading items from a donation bin on E. Main St. into a minvan. Judge Robert Gardner scheduled a pretrial hearing for Nov. 14 and ordered Varela to stay away from the location of the alleged theft. 

Pablo R. Rivera, 27, of 14 Hancock St., was summonsed to court on a complaint by Northborough police on charges of larceny over $250. Police said Rivera took an iPad slated for delivery from a FedEx facility on Lyman St. and later registered the device online to his own name. Judge Robert Gardner reduced the charge to larceny under $250 and continued the case without a finding for six months. He also ordered Rivera to reimburse FedEx in the amount of $106.40.  

Carlos A. Dias, 35, of 57A Progressive St., Worcester, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Shrewsbury police on a charge of operating after license suspensions (2d or subsequent offense). Judge Robert Gardner released Dias on personal recognizance and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Dec. 3. 

Bridget L. Kupfer, 25, of 61 Stafford St., Worcester, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Westborough police on a charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Judge Robert Gardner dismissed both charges. 

Rubens Neto, 29, of 135 E. Main St., Apt. K3, Westborough, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Westborough police on a charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Judge Robert Gardner dismissed both charges.
